Black Hole
App · Simulator · Sensors
An abstract black hole drawn with 140,000 white particles. The disk spirals in on closed-form Keplerian paths computed on the GPU, and every particle behind the hole is bent by a gravitational lens: the far side of the disk is thrown up over the top and a second, flipped image appears underneath. Throw in an object and it opens in its own popup window as a cloud of points: a rocky planet, a ringed giant, a gas giant, an ice moon, a red dwarf or a comet. The windows talk over a BroadcastChannel, so each object knows exactly where the black hole sits on your screen. Drag its window towards the black hole window to feed it: the closer it gets, the harder the tide stretches it along the line to the hole, its points peel off near side first and stream across the screen into the disk, until it crosses the edge, is drawn out into spaghetti and gone, leaving its window empty.
